Who we are?
Fenix Aikido Dojo was founded in 1990 according to the initiative of the founder of Bulgarian Aikido Federation Georgi Ivanov. After two decades of hard work our club has strengthened its position as one of the solid clubs in our city and region. Up to now thirteen club members have defended black belts and all of them continue their aikido trainings regularly as instructors and assistant-instructors.
The result of serious trainers' work (by steady and experienced instructors with long aikido practice) is the expansion of our club – at the moment aikido trainings are carried out in four dojo. Our main purpose is to popularize this martial art as a method of physical perfection, as well as a way of self-acquaintance with the willingness that everyone who wants to practice Aikido, to have this opportunity.

In 2014 Sensei Mehmedov obtained a training course at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, where he studied under the guidance of the best Shihans in Japan. Five Shodan at the Aikido Summer School Burgas in July 2012
Summer Aikido School - Burgas 2012 was held on 13th 14th and 15th July 2012. Guests of the seminar, by the invitation of the Board of Directors of the club, were the President of the Ukraikian Aikikai Aikido Association, sensei Igor Shmygin 6th dan and the Chairman of the Romanian Aikikai Aikido Foundation, sensei Dorin Marchis 5th dan. Shmygin sensei, with his jokes, and Marchis sensei, with his serious way of teaching, grabbed the attention of the trainees, who practised without being divided into clubs or organizations, united by a common idea - Aikido brings us together, but does not divide us. A Dan examination was also held at the seminar. Five candidates were waiting for their turn: Peter Koev, Malinka Mineva, Lachezar Minev, Nikola Nikolov and Kostadin Polukchiev. The examination began with a slight stage fright, although this was not the first examination for dan, which is held in our club, but yet candidates recovered from their embarrassment with the first technique, concentrated and precisely performed each technique. As is the order, sensei asked the candidates to show him various types of "wazas", to assess their skills and abilities. Then everyone heard personally long-awaited "SHODAN", which meant only one thing - successfully passed test - First Dan. Congratulations for the Dan and let this level not be the Mount of your Aikido practice, but a new beginning in Budo. With a perfectly organized seminar and the successful DAN exam, we affirmed the positive image of the club and showed that we have more potential that has yet to be developed.
